New Years Resolutions | 2014.

After reading everyone else's posts on what they'd like to change about themselves/their lives in the new year I realised that I've never actually made a new years resolution! Posting them here on my little space on the internet means that I absolutely have to stick to them, right?

  • Drink more water: I flat out refuse to make a new years resolution related to health/fitness/dieting (possibly more on that later, if I'm feeling brave…), but I've realised that I drink nowhere near enough water, and it really shows on my skin when I'm dehydrated. In an ideal world I'd also like to swap fizzy drinks for water but as I don't drink any hot drinks I do need a bit of variety, so instead I'm going to attempt to just up my water intake. I've downloaded an app on my phone called 'Daily Water' to try and keep track so I don't forget.
  • Take more photos: I also realised that I hardly ever take photos at social events, and especially now I have a shiny new camera, I can take my old one on nights out and not worry as much about what's going to happen to it. I've had some amazing times in 2013 and I don't have photographic evidence of almost half of them, and that's definitely something I'd like to change this year.
  • Pick up a new (or old) hobby: When I finish uni I know that my life is going to change dramatically, and instead of falling into a black hole as I did this summer, I want to give myself something productive to work at. After quitting skating after an injury in October 2012, I have missed it every single day. If my body (and finances) will allow it, I'd like to get back on the ice, and maybe even compete again. If not, I'm going to try something new, possibly pole dancing.
  • Say 'YES!': This is the big one for me, and the one I am most determined to stick to. I spent a long time alone last year simply because I didn't have the confidence to say yes and go along when people invited me out. Most recently, I decided to agree to go on Tour with my dance friends. Last year I didn't even consider it and spent the entire week they were all away sulking and working on my dissertation. This year I am going to say yes to more things and stop silly things holding me back! If you ever see me deliberating whether or not to do something/go somewhere, please give me that extra push I need. 9 times out of 10 I have no logical reason for not going, and I am not going to spend 2014 being boring and alone.
  • Be happy and healthy: I think this one speaks for itself.
What are your new years resolutions?
